A house based Picatrix election for love

House based elections are among the most sophisticated and complex techniques in the repertoire of astrological magic.  Rather than relying on the essential nature of a single planet to cause a magical effect, house based elections use the aspects between planets ruling the houses that signify the matter to bring about a desired change.

This election from Book 1, Chapter 5 of the Picatrix uses the planets ruling the ascendant and the seventh house which represent the magician and the other party respectively, along with some intensifying factors, to create a strong and lasting bond between them.

Although the Picatrix utilises this election to create love between two people, the election can also be used to form a bond between people in a business or legal partnership, to become closer to a spirit or deity, or any other form of relationship.

Be extremely careful, however, that the relationship is something that you truly desire since the presence of factors such as the nodes in the first and seventh houses can create a strong, almost fated, quality to the relationship and this is something that will be almost impossible to undo.

We require the following factors for the election to work:

1. It should be Jupiter or Venus hour, since these planets are both helpful in forming happy relationships
2. The North node should be rising in the first house (this automatically places the South node in the seventh house, the house of partners and partnerships, and it creates a fated relationship)
3. The Moon should make a harmonious aspect to Venus
4. The Lord of the 7^th house should apply to the Lord of the Ascendant by a trine or sextile aspect
5. The Lord of the Ascendant and the Lord of the 7th should be strong and unafflicted

The Election

The election is set for London, UK.  The time is 1345 (1.45pm) on 2 February 2020.

It is the hour of Venus.  Cancer is rising, and we have the nodes in the Cancer-Capricorn axis, with the North node in the 1^st whole sign house.  The Moon, ruler of the Ascendant, is exalted in Taurus in the benefic 11^th house. The Moon is waxing and makes a sextile aspect to a beautiful exalted Venus.

Saturn is dignified by domicile in Capricorn and receives a sextile aspect from an exalted Venus.  The Moon, ruler of the 1^st house, makes a trine aspect to Saturn, ruler of the 7^th house.  The one negative is the square between the Moon and Mercury, but this is a minor negative given all of the other factors.

The Work

During the elected time, create images of the two parties embracing.  You can either create poppets filled with personal concerns or, if this is not possible, create two images on paper and glue them together with honey so that they are face-to-face.  Suffumigate with an appropriate incense.

The Picatrix would have you bury the work on the property of the party you want to love you, but if this is not possible, you can of course keep the images in a symbolically appropriate place to work with them at a later date.  There are no ritual instructions given to accompany this ritual, but I would petition the hierarchies associated with the Moon and Saturn (as well as Venus) and ask them to create a harmonious and enduring relationship between you and the other party.
