I have had a few queries from people who were concerned about creating Venus talismans because of an afflicted Venus in their nativities. I understand the concerns but, in practice, I have only seen beneficial effects from talismans of the benefics – and this is coming from someone who has an afflicted Venus and Jupiter.
For those who, for whatever reason, would prefer not to create a Venus talisman, here is an election for the 26th Lunar Mansion, Al Fargh al-Awal.
Most of the Lunar Mansions can be used for both good and evil effects dependent upon the dignity of the moon, and whether it is aspected by benefics and friendly aspects or malefics and harsh aspects. The Picatrix states that this Mansion is good to create “images to bind people in mutual love, to protect those who travel in wagons, to strengthen buildings and make the incarceration of captives and to cause evil to them”. Our election is to bring out the positive aspects of this Lunar Mansion to make it suitable to attract or strengthen love.
The Election
The election is set for London, UK at 14:26 on 29 October 2017. The chart is below (you can click on it to enlarge it).
The Moon is rising in the 26th Lunar Mansion, it is increasing in light and is dignified by face. It is making an applying trine to the benefic Jupiter, and makes no harsh applying aspects to any planets malefic or otherwise.
The Work
In the final chapter of Book 4 of the Picatrix, the author describes a particular image and working of this Lunar Mansion:
“The twenty-sixth Mansion is Alfard the Former, and it is for the creation of love. When the Moon is passing through it, take white wax and mastic and melt them together; from these fashion the image of a woman with her hair unbound and before her a vessel placed as if to receive her hair. Suffumigate it with sweet-smelling odours, and say: “You, Tagriel, bring me to the love of friendship of such and such a woman.” Place the image in a small bag, and place with t also some of the most sweet smelling of substances; carry it with you, and it shall be completed as you have requested.” – The Picatrix, translated by John Michael Greer and Christopher Warnock.
You may wish to follow the same procedure. Other options might include creating a talisman on silver with a suitable image of your choosing, or, if it is to attract or strengthen the love between yourself and a particular person, you might print out and prepare a photograph of the two of you together. In both cases, it would be wise to invoke the Lord of the Mansion, Tagriel, and to use sweet smelling incense and oils to consecrate the image.
